Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data ChessAlfa collects and how it is used.
Last updated: June 2026
Summary
ChessAlfa has no user accounts and does not ask for personal information. Chess analysis runs entirely on your device. We use standard, aggregate analytics to understand how the site is used.
Chess analysis stays on your device
Game analysis is performed by the Stockfish 18 (Lite) engine running in your browser via WebAssembly. The positions and games you analyze are processed locally and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Games you import
When you enter a Chess.com or Lichess username, your browser requests that player’s publicly available games directly from the Chess.com or Lichess public APIs. We do not store these games on our servers. Please review the privacy policies of Chess.com and Lichess for how those services handle data.
Local storage
ChessAlfa saves your preferences (such as board theme and analysis settings) and your most recent game in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to collect aggregate, anonymized usage data — such as page views, general location, device type, and how features are used — to improve the product. These services may set cookies and use similar technologies. They do not receive your chess games or any account-level identity, because ChessAlfa has no accounts.
Third-party resources
The Stockfish engine is loaded from a public CDN (unpkg). Loading that resource may expose your IP address to the CDN provider, as is standard for any web request.
Children’s privacy
ChessAlfa is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
